Poncho and I are about the same age - which means we share a hankering for ‘80s hair metal. You'll often catch us discussing the merits of long-forgotten groups like Kix, Cinderella, Krokus and Britny Fox.
Those songs you hear on the 5:00 Hair Appointment, well, that's where they come from. Unfortunately though, I no longer rock the cavemanesque rockstar hair a la Poncho. Genetics get in my way, but he's proud to tell you (and anyone within earshot) how he only washes that mop once every 3-4 days. Apparently it's healthier for that salad of his. I just think he's lazy.
Actually, he's not lazy at all. Poncho's always ready to get out there meet the fine Rock 105.3 listeners. In fact, I think he could run for mayor and win (no offense, Mayor Norm). He truly enjoys the Gas City and its proximity to excellent riding routes. Yes, Poncho rides a Harley. I mean, look at the guy. Of COURSE he rides a Harley. Bucking the longhaired stereotype however, the guy actually seems to ENJOY waking up at 3:30 in the morning. Or…. if he doesn't like rolling out of the rack at that hour, he seems to fake it well. All part of his duty, coming in to school Cassie on the merits of his beloved Blue Bombers (he's a Manitoban), and to rock the sleep out of the eyes of his fellow Hatters.
Next time you hear Pink Floyd at 6 am, rest assured he's got the air guitar out in the Rock 1053 studio. No stretch for Poncho, he'll be doing the same thing around 420 in his garage, next to Dr Jake.
