Poncho & Cassie from our morning show here at Rock 105.3, talked about this week being the 30th anniversary of the “compact disc” aka the CD. I remember buying one of my first CD’s. It was actually at my very first concert which was seeing The Offspring with The Doughboys in Edmonton at The Agricom.

Yes, back in the days when buying merchandise at a show didn’t require you to max out your credit card just buying a shirt (in another blog I will complain about merchandise prices). For $20 I bought my first t-shirt at a concert and with the shirt my very first CD “Go Ahead Punk … Make my Day,” This album introduced me to so many bands that I still listen to today. I’m talking about Guttermouth, The Vandals, AFI and Jughead’s Revenge, Thanks to that one purchase I have racks and racks of CD’s. I still get weird looks going into local music stores and buying CD’s because some people love just downloading music from the Internet, I can’t! I need the CD with the liner notes and the lyrics so I can throw on the headphones and follow along to the lyrics. Now do you remember your first CD? What was it?
