New Look at The Wolverine

Posted on by cassie.lischka

There are a ton of summer blockbusters I’m looking forward to seeing—including Hugh Jackman’s “The Wolverine”

He seems to be facing a whole new set of problems–including being tormented by the ghost of Jean Grey and being targeted by a new batch of Japanese enemies.

Take a look at the latest trailer. It hits theaters July 26th.

Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist and founding member of The Doors has died at the age of 74. Manzarek died Monday surrounded by his family in Germany after a battle with cancer. Manzarek founded The Doors after meeting Jim Morrison in California. The band went on to become one of the most successful rock ‘n’ roll acts to emerge from the 1960s. The Doors sold more than 100 million albums worldwide with hits like “Riders on the Storm,” “Light My Fire,” and “Break On Through to the Other Side.”

Happy Birthday Homme!

Posted on by trapper.john

Today is Queens of the Stone Age leader Josh Homme’s 40th birthday. I’ve had 2 run-ins with him over the years. One where he told me to ditch work to come to their show that night in Edmonton. Another where I drank his last Corona backstage before he got there. We’ve been playing their new song a lot on Rock 105.3, here’s the video for “My God is the Sun”.

Kiss Kultivates the Klassics

Posted on by trapper.john

Apparently KISS has been pulling one of their lesser hits, “Shandi” out on this tour. I personally like the song, but it’s off the album that started their downfall, 1980′s “Unmasked“. Granted – they’ve been doing the song on their Australian tour (one of the only places in the world where Shandi was a hit) – so who knows if it makes it to the stage in Southern Alberta. Rock 105.3 is proud to present KISS in both Calgary and Lethbridge this July! Click Concerts above to find out how to get your tickets.

Sneak Peak at Whose Line is it Anyway?

Posted on by cassie.lischka

I’m pretty stoked that Whose Line is it Anyway is making a return to TV this summer! Who doesn’t love Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie & Ryan Styles doing classic improv??

Unfortunately, the show will not be hosted by Drew Carey, instead Aisha Tyler will take over the duties.  The new series will feature a “special guest” for each episode, and will consist of ten 30-minute shows. A preview of the show aired earlier this week. Check it out:
